Heavy rains on September 9–10, 2025 triggered severe floods and landslides across Bali, leaving at least 18 people dead and one still missing. According to BNPB, more than 6,000 families were affected in areas including Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, Tabanan, Karangasem, Jembrana, and Klungkung, with Denpasar recording the highest number of flood points. Roads, homes, and public facilities were submerged, while landslides further damaged infrastructure in rural regions.

Authorities deployed hundreds of soldiers, police officers, and volunteers to evacuate residents, distribute aid, and clear debris. Over 500 people were forced to take shelter in schools and village halls after losing their homes. BMKG reported rainfall reaching 150 mm in 24 hours and warned that more rain is expected as Indonesia enters a prolonged wet season.

Experts highlighted that rapid land conversion and poor drainage systems worsened the scale of flooding. In response, Bali’s governor announced a ban on new hotel, villa, and restaurant permits on agricultural land as part of a long-term strategy to protect the island from further environmental damage.

The government continues to coordinate recovery and relief efforts, urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant in the coming days.
